The Living Lineage
From Jung to Campbell to Pearson to Myss… to you. Where archetypes came from.
Every archetype practitioner stands on the shoulders of the teachers who came before. For more than a century, the wisdom of the archetypes has been passed from teacher to student… explored, expanded and made new by each generation.
This is the story of that lineage. And it's still being written — by the practitioners carrying it forward today.
The Archetype Teachers
Carl Jung
1875–1961 · Swiss psychiatrist, founder of analytical psychology
Named the archetypes and the collective unconscious — the shared, inherited patterns that shape every human life.
You can explore more on Carl Jung HERE.
Joseph Campbell
1904–1987 · The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949).
Mapped the Hero's Journey, showing the same mythic story alive in cultures across the world.
The Joseph Campbell Foundation can be found HERE.
Carol S. Pearson
The Hero Within (1986) · Awakening the Heroes Within (1991).
Brought the archetypes into everyday life with a system of twelve, and co-created the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator (PMAI).
Founder of Storywell.com.
Caroline Myss
Anatomy of the Spirit (1996) · Sacred Contracts.
Linked archetypes to life purpose through Sacred Contracts, and founded CMED, which has trained archetypal consultants worldwide.
Her website is myss.com.
